Working through 4 Phases

This afternoon, I used the 4 Phases to solve a problem.
I currently host MF | Community 4 Phases sessions, 2 days per week, once in downtown Decorah, a second session on Luther's campus.
Begin / Move / Dance / Witness
I had noticed some responses to the snippet of performance I had watched last week of the developing Body of Water piece, as presented through Bob Larson’s Friday chapel for Creative Arts visit day, and wanted to work through those responses.
He (Professor Emeritus of Theatre/Dance) had chosen to feature movement, as a recently retired faculty in the Theater/Dance, rather than speak with words. He offered a poem, and allowed the students to speak with their movement.
I enjoyed the tremendously, and this witnessing opportunity allowed me to create questions for my witnessing. In my 4 Phases happy hour, I explored my response and investigated these questions as though I was a choreographer/performe, wondering, staying curious, avoiding judgement.
Do the movers feel the concept and ideas of the piece to make the movements, or do they feel they are doing movements about something? As in, are they making movements as though you are being watched/witnessed, or are they initiated by the ideas/concepts?
What are the goals of this performance? Are they all equal, or are there primary and secondary goals? What about unintentional outcomes?
In doing this, I also allowed my role in the performance to enter into the conversation as a witness. It was difficult not to analyze, but I kept the questions as open as I could, eager to continue to watch the performance develop over the winter and spring, and unfold in meaning, for me as witness (and observe my questions being answered), and for the performers.
I plan to share my thoughts from this experience, and to continue to understand through movement.
